Jerusalem Sacred Music Festival – Information and Recommendations

Jerusalem Season of Culture

The Jerusalem Sacred Music Festival focuses on the unique and interesting sites that define the city’s unique character.

The Tower of David Museum
Adjacent to the Jaffa Gate, entrance via ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab Square.

The ancient citadel reveals, in its many layers, the story of Jerusalem. Almost all of the history of the most complex city in the world can be found in the tales its stones can tell. Under a canopy of stars, the Tower of David will be our host for a few days of unforgettable musical celebrations.

* The performances are standing performances with alternative seating; there is no reserved seating.
During “A Night Stroll,” the tower’s spaces will be open and various types of seating will be offered throughout the night.

Recommended parking: In the Karta and Safra parking garages (for a fee). The Karta parking garage will be open throughout the night of “A Night Stroll” (September 12).
Accessibility: The central stage is accessible. Access to the other spaces used during the night of “A Night Stroll” require climbing stairs.

The Roof of the Mishkenot Sha’ananim Conference Center—Yemin Moshe

Opposite the walls of the Old City, on the open, magical roof of Mishkenot Sha’ananim, a series of musical performances from Israel and the world will fill Jerusalem with heavenly sounds. In the backdrop of this enchanting music and Jerusalem’s crisp night air, we will celebrate the human spirit together, with voices from past and present and from within the most beautiful and complex city in the world.

Parking: Disabled parking is available. Paid parking at Yemin Moshe until 6:00pm. The Liberty Bell Park—free.
Refreshments: There is an on-site restaurant on the top floor of the compound with an elevator that is accessible for people with disabilities.
Disability access: The entrance to the hall is accessible to people with disabilities and the hall also has special seating.

Jerusalem Music Center
Mishkanot Shaananim at Yemin Moshe

The intimate auditorium with perfect acoustics, which also serves as one of the most highly regarded recording studios in Israel, will host a series of “masters” throughout the festival, enabling an almost face-to-face encounter with virtuosos from Israel and the world.

* The performances are seated performances.

Free parking at the Liberty Bell parking lot; parking for a fee adjacent to the windmill in Yemin Moshe.
Accessibility: For those with special needs, please call in advance: 02-6241041.

Food and drink
At each of the festival’s venues, refreshing snacks and drinks will be available for purchase.

Times
The starting time of performances and the time the doors open are listed for each of the performances.
Please note that the festival occurs during the period of slichot prayers, when there is heavy traffic around the Old City.

Dress
It is indeed the end of the summer, but for those unfamiliar with the caressing charm of Jerusalem at sunset, we recommend bringing warm clothing.

For those participating in the tour of ethnic groups, we recommend arriving with comfortable clothes for walking, a hat and water. Due to the nature of the tours and out of respect for our hosts, we ask you to come in modest dress. Details and emphases are in the program page of the tours of ethnic groups.
